The Team

The people who create MEISENNE

MEISENNE cannot be created by one person alone.
Professionals in their respective fields—textile, graphic, craft, and cultural heritage—
come together to nurture this brand.

Brand Producer

Emi Uchihara

EMI UCHIHARA

Brand Producer of MEISENNE. She oversees everything about MEISENNE, from brand concept design to product development, sales strategy, and communication.

"I want to carry on the culture of Isezaki Meisen, not as a technique, but as a spirit, into the modern age"—this desire is the origin of MEISENNE. From Isezaki City, Gunma Prefecture, the birthplace of Meisen, she aims to transmit the aesthetic sense of "Japan, neither Kyoto nor Tokyo" to the world.

Illustrator / Textile Design

MIKUKU

An illustrator who creates MEISENNE's original textiles. She breathes life into MEISENNE's fabrics by drawing original designs that inherit the Meisen spirit—bold color schemes, the coexistence of geometric and natural motifs, and the blurred and wavering patterns derived from ikat weaving.

It's "reinterpretation," not "reproduction." By not simply copying past Meisen patterns but creating new ones from scratch with a contemporary sensibility, unique MEISENNE patterns are born.

Harumi Yamaji

HARUMI YAMAJI

MEISENNE's graphic designer, who archives Isezaki Meisen patterns as digital data. Based on high-resolution photographs of actual Meisen kimonos and bolts of fabric, she meticulously reproduces them digitally into a format that can be used for contemporary materials.

The challenge is how faithfully the unique "blur and waver of ikat" in Meisen can be reconstructed in the digital world. This endeavor supports the quality of MEISENNE's textiles.

Bag Designer

Akira Fujimoto

AKIRA FUJIMOTO

A bag designer who designs MEISENNE's bag line. He is responsible for the silhouette and structure of all four models: the Benly clasp bag, drawstring tote, TORICAGO, and mini Boston bag.

He meticulously designs the balance of shape, material, and hardware to maximize the feeling of "wearing" the Meisen patterned fabric. The unique combination of leather and fabric, in particular, is made possible by Fujimoto's skill and aesthetic sense.

Ribbon Creator

Tamami Yotsuya

TAMAMI YOTSUYA

A ribbon creator who handles MEISENNE's ribbon accessory line. She creates items that serve as the finishing touch to an outfit, such as headpieces and ribbon hair clips.

Head accessories adorned with MEISENNE's textiles and worldview complete an outfit, making it "imbued with intent from head to toe." Reaching beyond bags and clothing, Tamami's ribbon accessories enrich the world of MEISENNE as the final touch to a coordinated look.

Special Cooperation

Kayo Takayama

KAYO TAKAYAMA — Owner of "Hanahana," an Isezaki Meisen shop

Owner of "Hanahana," an Isezaki Meisen shop. She is a storyteller of Meisen culture, who has collected and preserved Meisen from the Taisho to early Showa periods and continues to transmit that culture to the present day.

She collaborates in MEISENNE's textile development by providing actual Meisen kimonos and bolts of fabric, as well as profound knowledge regarding Meisen designs and history. MEISENNE's digital archive is made possible by the "authentic Meisen" that Ms. Takayama has preserved.

"Not just protecting Meisen culture, but passing it on to the next generation"—she is an irreplaceable presence for MEISENNE, sharing this same vision.

Design, technology, cultural heritage—
