Like rattan work, like a birdcage.
A unique presence.

The TORICAGO is the most uniquely designed item among MEISENNE's bags.
The exquisite combination of a leather cage-like frame and Meisen textile fabric – its very structure is the identity of this bag.

The name "birdcage (TORICAGO)" was born from its shape. The pattern of the fabric visible through the cage changes its expression depending on the angle. There's a little bit of excitement every time you carry it.

The combination of this leather frame and fabric, and its shape, is a unique design with no similar products existing in the market. It embodies MEISENNE's approach to craftsmanship, requiring both high-level textile and leatherwork skills.

This bag's design suits both Western and Japanese attire.
"Today, I choose this" – a small yet firm declaration of will, integrated into your daily outfit.

This silk fabric flourished in Isezaki City, Gunma Prefecture, from the Taisho period to the early Showa period.
The greatest charm of Isezaki Meisen patterns lies in their boldness. Geometric patterns are freely combined with natural motifs such as flowers and grasses, dyed in unusually vibrant colors for kimonos of that era. Furthermore, the unique "blurring" and "wavering" derived from the pre-dyeing technique called kasuri – where outlines are slightly softened and colors blend smoothly – creates a soft depth not found in other kimonos.

Individuality over formality. Freedom over rules. Meisen was a fabric whose patterns embodied such a spirit. Just as women of that time unhesitatingly chose its colors and patterns, MEISENNE inherits that aesthetic sensibility in a modern form.

What is the Kikko (tortoiseshell) pattern?

It is a geometric pattern with regular hexagons arranged seamlessly. Named "Kikko" (tortoiseshell) due to its resemblance to a turtle's shell, it is one of the traditional patterns that has been used in kimonos and furnishings in Japan for over 1,000 years.

The hexagon is one of the most stable shapes, seen in nature in honeycombs and snowflakes. For this reason, it has been cherished since ancient times as an auspicious pattern symbolizing "longevity, prosperity, and good fortune."

The Kikko pattern textile used in this bag inherits the bold color scheme and geometric aesthetic of Isezaki Meisen, reinterpreted as a modern design.
