The exquisite combination of a leather cage-like frame and Meisen textile fabric – its very structure is the identity of this bag.
The name "Torikago" (birdcage) comes from its shape. The fabric pattern visible through the cage changes its expression depending on the angle. There's a little thrill every time you carry it.
This combination of leather frame, fabric, and shape is a unique design, unlike any other product on the market. It's a bag that embodies MEISENNE's commitment to craftsmanship, requiring both high-level textile and leather work.

This silk fabric flourished in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, from the Taisho to early Showa periods.
The greatest charm of Isesaki Meisen patterns lies in their boldness. Geometric patterns were freely combined with natural motifs like flowers and plants, dyed in colors that were exceptionally vivid for kimonos of that era. Furthermore, the unique "blurring" and "undulation" derived from the pre-dyed technique called kasuri – a slightly blurred outline and a smooth溶け合うような表情 where colors blend seamlessly – creates a soft depth unlike any other kimono.
Individuality over formality. Freedom over rules. Meisen was a fabric whose patterns embodied such a spirit. Just as the women of that time unhesitatingly chose its colors and patterns, MEISENNE inherits this aesthetic sensibility into contemporary forms.
Woven more durably with several times the number of weaving threads compared to standard jacquard fabric.
Threads are selected to bring out the luster and presence of Isesaki Meisen.

Washing is not possible for either the leather or the bag, as it can cause color fading and loss of shape.
If it gets dirty, wipe it with a cloth or brush.
We recommend using a waterproof spray to prevent color fading and dirt from rain.
(It not only waterproofs but also makes it slightly more resistant to dirt)
